My Kingdom For A Personal Chef :-)

Okay, I'm only on Day 11, and I have to say that I had forgotten just how good regular exercise feels.  It is something I gave up quite a long time ago.  Today was a bump up to 25 minute walk and the core & flexibility, and I felt SO good afterwards!  I really didn't think I could do it when I saw the instructions for today's workout, but I DID IT and feel very proud of myself.

I've been following the nutritarian diet as much as I can and find that I "fall off" from time to time, but feel such a let-down in energy and feel so bloated and yucky when I do, that those times are getting less and less frequent.  That's the good news.  The bad news is, I've never really been into cooking or preparing my own meals (okay, that might be part of why I'm 70 lbs. overweight, eh?) and "My Kingdom for a Personal Chef" has become my mantra.  I'm just hoping I will find the food preparation goes the way of the exercise as in it will get easier, more inspired, and more of routine soon.  The main missing ingredient for me is T-I-M-E, and I'm not talking about the herbal kind.  I've been reading some of the posts on the Eat Right site and see that a lot of folks do their main soup cooking and other prep work on the weekends, and I'm going to start doing that this weekend.

I've got breakfast down pat now--I make enough oatmeal to last a few days and have it with fruit & nuts or seeds, or I'll make a quick greens & fruit smoothie.  It's when I'm starving at noon that seems the biggest challenge, and dinner seems to get later and later as I scramble to put a good one together.  This lifestyle change is a BIG adjustment for me--learning to think ahead and cook ahead and plan ahead.  But I know how much better I've been feeling the last week or so, so I'm plowing ahead and I'm going to keep on keeping on.  With all my "slip-ups," I've still lost a few pounds, and that's encouraging.  I have a doctor's appointment the first week of April, and hope to see some changes in blood test results too.  I have high cholesterol, high blood sugar, high blood pressure and all of the other lovely things that come along with being so overweight and sedentary.  I'm hoping for good changes in the near future!
